An epidemiologist and pediatrician, Dr. Gracia serves as the Deputy Assistant Secretary for Minority Health and the Director of the Office of Minority Health at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).
As Hepatitis B disproportionately affects Asian American, Pacific Islander, and African newcomer communities, we welcome Dr. Gracia's perspectives as a long-time advocate for health equity. Dr. Gracia's areas of expertise include Haiti recovery, global health, and childhood obesity. She has previously served as a White House Fellow and worked on the White House Council on Women and Girls.
Dr. Gracia spearheaded the 2012 HHS environmental justice strategy, countering harmful environmental outcomes which impact the health of low-income and Native American communities. She is both a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and the National President Emeritus of the Student National Medical Association.
